Every home has a heartbeat, and for Legends, it’s the great room. This is where the energy of the house settles — open enough for entertaining, cozy enough for family nights, and layered with details.
A designer once teased us about loving white paint, so we took it as a challenge. For Legends, there is not a single white wall in sight. Instead, we wrapped the entire great room in Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige, a color that is anything but boring. It’s soft, warm, and completely enveloping. Don’t worry, we still love white!
For our fireplace, we wanted something that looked like it had been here for hundreds of years. Michael, with Christie’s Cut Stone crafted a custom limestone mantle and to give it that lived-in, timeworn look, we didn’t just rely on the stone itself. Lloyd with Albertine and Co. literally poured Folger’s coffee on it….more than once! It gave the limestone a perfect, imperfect patina. It feels collected and storied.
Floor plans are where design and construction meet, and this space is a perfect example. When you’re working with tall ceilings and large furniture groupings, you don’t just think about sofas and chairs, a designer is thinking about outlets. Floor outlets have to be planned before the slab is even poured, which meant we had to map out furniture placement from the very beginning. It is one of those behind the scenes details that no one notices when it’s done right, but it makes all the difference.
To add in character, we went back and forth on how to treat it. In the end, a coffered ceiling gave us the architecture we wanted, but what really made it special was a delicate cove moulding inside each coffer. It is those subtleties that elevate a room from good to unforgettable.
The mood of the great room is layered, welcoming… and dare we say, legendary? With soulful artwork— we are looking at you, Wellon Bridgers and Megan Hurdle! With textured upholstery, natural woods the room will feel collected and alive.
